My name is Shayna Obando, and I’m in 11 th grade. I’m passionate about history, film, and travelling. I’m thinking about being a historian, since I learn about history in my free time anyways. Recently, I went to Boston and had the opportunity to visit the Boston Museum of the Fine Arts. There, I saw exhibits from Egypt, Greece, and Iran. Upon arriving at my hotel room, I realized how at peace I felt and since then I’ve considered being a historian. My love for film candidly started when I saw the 1961 adaptation of West Side Story with my grandma when I was 13. When the 2021 remake released, it instantly became my favorite movie due to the cinematography and music. An animation studio that brings me comfort is Studio Ghibli. I watched Ponyo with my mom one Christmas, and we both fell in love with the animation and message. One of my favorite composers is Joe Hisaishi, who composed most of the score used in Ghibli movies.
