Group Blog

In order to prepare for the final task, I will be making this music video by myself. This includes the research, planning, filming, editing, and final product. I am considering a couple of songs, including Let You Break My Heart Again by Laufey, I Feel Pretty from West Side Story, and Everybody Wants to Rule the World by Tears for Fears.

My BIG Genre Decision!

 After looking through all the genre blogs I have made, I have decided to do a coming-of-age film from Pitch 1. I can most identify with the story since I find myself laughing at these types of movies at how much I remember it being similar to my middle school experience. In my opening, I hope to emulate how fresh, yet scary the world looks at the fragile pre-teen years. The quirkiness that the protagonists have will be worked into the script as well as the score. While I will still be keeping the opening more slice-of-life than anything else, I am already brainstorming elements that will catch the audience off guard.

Keep it in the Family! Production Day 8

 There are a few characters that don't include Cece or me in the opening sequence. These include Annie's grandma, her guidance counselor, her dad, and her relative. The actors that will play these characters have been pre-casted as members of my family. I figured this would be the easiest thing, since it would be difficult, not to mention weird, to source other adults that would act for me. My mom will be playing the guidance counselor, my brother will play the relative, and my dad & grandma will be playing themselves. The only person who knows they will be acting is my mom, and that's only because I had to do her makeup for the makeup blog. The first person I was able to film was my grandma, who upon hearing she would be acting in my film started to complain that her hair wasn't done right. Production Blog 3: Makeup

To accompany the 80's style, I wanted to do a bold and bright makeup look. I recorded myself putting on the makeup and sped it up using the app "Video Speed Changer." What is shown below is the basic eye makeup. In order of the video, I first show the lip balm I put in beforehand. After I put concealer under my eyes, then eyeliner, and finally I apply eyebrow gel and smooth it out. In the next clip, I show a bright pink lipstick that I substitute for eyeshadow. I've had the lipstick since I was 13 and I never use it, so to make this process budget-friendly, I dug it up and used it on my eyelids. I made sure not to smudge the eyeliner I had put on and went beyond my crease line to make a more dramatic look. After, I put on mascara and the eye makeup is done. Finally, I use purple lipstick excessively as a blush. I didn't worry much about blending since it would pop more on camera if I didn't blend as much.
