Our Nintendo Switch Commercial

After planning and filming for a long time, our final commercial for the Nintendo Switch is out. Katherine edited it together and put the non-diegetic sounds over it. My final feeling is that we captured the feeling that Nintendo wanted to convey with their numerous ads for the console of the past. My understanding of what it takes to make a commercial is now greater than what it was before this project. My film vocabulary has broadened and made me more passionate about film in general.

  Due to school being canceled because of the unforeseeable Hurricane Ian, my partner and I decided it was safest to stay home while the storm passed over us. With that being said, we still took time to set up and charge our Switches. We filmed our first two scenes individually, and we sent pictures to agree on camera placement and lighting. We were able to document this in a series of photos. We cleaned our designated filming areas, wore the clothes we aforementioned, and set our phones on a stable place to film. In order to choose between multiple shots, we did different takes that were each about five seconds. We later video called each other to discuss the best possible shot for the first two scenes. Since music would later be placed over the scenes (and therefore the entire commercial) it didn't matter if there was diegetic sound in the scenes. Props:  In alliance with the free-spirited professional music video, I will be using a car as a prop, my brother's bongos and keyboard, and maybe my guitar. Costume:  I will look through my own wardrobe to get inspiration for the video. Around two weeks ago at school, there was a throwback Thursday-themed spirit day and I so happened to have decided to be the 80s. If I decide to change my prior wardrobe a bit, it will probably be small changes like accessories and bigger hair. Schedule:   11/17/22- the storyboard will be finished, and I will have a clearer vision of what to plan for. 11/22/22- a set list is made, travel arrangments are set, and all needed props are packed 11/26/22- first day of filming, will consist of the lip-synching portions of the video 11/28/22- second day of filming, I will film car scenes and potentially planes taking off. Title Research: Back to the Future

As shown in the Art of the Title website, in this comedy the title is one of the first things to be shown. In the opening sequence, we are given a panning shot of Doc's working space. This allows us to look into the mind of the wacky professor. We also get a bit of foreshadowing when the TV shows that plutonium has been stolen, which is later revealed that Doc stole it. These images perpetuate that Doc is very disorganized and crazy, showing his seemingly unnecessary inventions along with his enormous stereo system. The exaggeration of the setting makes it humorous for the audience since no actual scientists' lab is this messy or blown out of proportion. The panning motion aids in the comedy because it continuously shows what is in Doc's house and how weird it all is.
