Research Blog: How to Music Video

I will be doing a music video using the song Everybody Wants to Rule the World by Tears for Fears. Even though I wasn't alive during the 80s, I think it's safe to say that this song emits a nostalgia that we all experience.

  • The original music video made for the song has a lot of shots showing moving vehicles like a car and a plane.
  • The band is playing the instruments contributing to the song.
  • The 80's is known for big hair and over-exaggerated makeup and clothing with bright colors.
  • Over-the-top lip-synching in pop music videos during this decade is common to launch emotion.
  1. Random, unexpected shots are shown in 80s music videos such as men in tuxedos dancing in front of gas pumps in a vacant space.
  2. Slow-motion shots are frequently used to fill in space.
  3. The fade-in/out, wipe, and ripple is used as a transition tool. This makes it easier on me personally, since they are simple transitions. This is illustrated in the photo provided.
