My Storyboard!

1st Scene- The opening will begin with the main character, Annie, setting up her camera to face her.
2nd Scene- Almost immediately after, Annie is playing with her hair while explaining the things she used to enjoy when she was a bit younger and what she enjoys now that she is a pre-teen
3rd Scene- To show how 'mature' her taste is now, Annie is showing the camera her records
4th Scene- Annie is shown watching the Teenage Mutant Ninja Turtles, to indicate how she still has a strong connection to her childhood
5th Scene- Annie's grandma is shown saying how she thinks Annie is a romantic
6th Scene- Annie is watching a romance movie on her laptop, feeling sad that she isn't experiencing anything romantic like her classmates have
7th Scene- Annie starts taking out her braids and picking at the pimples on her face
8th Scene- Annie's relative is shown saying how he thinks Annie growing up so fast
9th Scene- Cece, Annie's best friend, is introduced by voiceover them playing with dolls and stuffed animals
10th Scene- Paired with a voiceover of Annie being bullied, Annie is shown in a bathroom picking at her face and seeing things 'wrong' with it
11th Scene- Annie is at her first days of school struggling to find friends at her new school during lunch
12th Scene- The middle school's Guidance Counselor is shown saying how Annie should try to take challenging classes in 7th grade to prepare for high school acceptance
13th Scene- Annie looks concerned while scrolling on her phone looking for the best high schools to go to
14th Scene- The following scene shows a wide shot of the crowd at the mall, where the voice-over says Annie and Cece are
15th Scene- Annie and Cece are in Claire's trying on sunglasses, makeup, and accessories
16th Scene- After feeling embarrassed and uncomfortable in Claire's, Annie and Cece are quiet in the food court while eating
17th Scene- After seeing ads of how teenagers are dressing, Annie decides to try on low-rise jeans and clothes that aren't her style
18th Scene- Realizing that this style isn't for her, Annie puts on a T-shirt that is more comfortable in and will buy
19th Scene- Annie decides which of her dolls and stuffed animals to keep and donate, closing the opening sequence with a two-way road for Annie

Production Blog 1

  Due to school being canceled because of the unforeseeable Hurricane Ian, my partner and I decided it was safest to stay home while the storm passed over us. With that being said, we still took time to set up and charge our Switches. We filmed our first two scenes individually, and we sent pictures to agree on camera placement and lighting. We were able to document this in a series of photos. We cleaned our designated filming areas, wore the clothes we aforementioned, and set our phones on a stable place to film. In order to choose between multiple shots, we did different takes that were each about five seconds. We later video called each other to discuss the best possible shot for the first two scenes. Since music would later be placed over the scenes (and therefore the entire commercial) it didn't matter if there was diegetic sound in the scenes. This could include sounds of doors opening and closing, animals walking, or ruffling. This is the first scene, and I am playing Animal...

Props:  In alliance with the free-spirited professional music video, I will be using a car as a prop, my brother's bongos and keyboard, and maybe my guitar. Costume:  I will look through my own wardrobe to get inspiration for the video. Around two weeks ago at school, there was a throwback Thursday-themed spirit day and I so happened to have decided to be the 80s. If I decide to change my prior wardrobe a bit, it will probably be small changes like accessories and bigger hair. Schedule:   11/17/22- the storyboard will be finished, and I will have a clearer vision of what to plan for. 11/22/22- a set list is made, travel arrangments are set, and all needed props are packed 11/26/22- first day of filming, will consist of the lip-synching portions of the video 11/28/22- second day of filming, I will film car scenes and potentially planes taking off. Production Blog 2: The Roller Rink

 One of my inspirations for this music video was Stranger Things, which is set in the 80s. One of the scenes from the first episode of season 4 was at a roller rink. My best friend, CeCe, loves to skate and had a small party at Galaxy Skateway on Saturday to celebrate her birthday. She wanted to teach me to skate, which didn't go well. Nonetheless, she skated her heart away. I tried to get footage while I was on the rink for a POV shot, but they didn't allow phones while on the rink. Instead, I took a video directly behind the rink border. This location was the perfect set choice that I didn't choose. The neon lights captured the brightness of the 80s, and the flashing lights helped to cover the fact that everyone there was not wearing the wardrobe of the 80s. I will edit this clip down in the final product, and I am considering adding a grainy filter over it to add a nostalgic feel like the duck and car shots.
